Catching up on some old news, about a month old, Mickey Spillane passed away. This article talks about his writing career, dating back to the pulp era and his primary influence being Carroll John Daly. The article goes into considerable detail following Mr. Spillane’s entire career. Along with Dashiell Hammett, Raymond Chandler and Carroll John Daly, Mickey Spillane with his tough guy hero Mike Hammer defined the hard boiled hero who lives on today.
