F. Scott Fitzgerald

F. Scott Fitzgerald1896-1940. An american author most famous for The Great Gatsby. Fitzgerald novels cover topics including love, money, and fast living and have come to represent the Jazz Age in Literature.

As a young writer during the 1920s, Fitzgerald reached literary heights with many critics lauding his work although his works did not bring immediate financial sucess.

Fitzgerald incorporated many of his personal experiences into his stories. His residence in Europe, his wife's infidelity and illness, and his own alcoholism were interwoven into his works.

Although his writing continued through the 1930s, writers block, illness, and personal problems left his career in shambles. Eventually leading him to work for hire writing jobs in Hollywood and an untimely death.

His stories provide us a window back into life during the roaring twenties and the Jazz Age as seen by a young writer experiencing life both here and aboard.
