Hero Pulps > Doc Savage
A daring experiment transmuted Clark Savage into the Herculean Man of Bronze. Welding five courageous soldiers of fortune into a Band of Iron, this invincible superman travels the world battling threats to humanity. Not since the days of King Arthur and Robin Hood has mankind known greater crusaders for justice.
One of the most successful pulp fiction magazines featuring the crime fighting super detective Doc Savage and his team of assistants. Raised by scientists, Doc Savage possessed superior intelligence, strength and resources to fight crime on an international scale. Written under the house name of Kenneth Robeson, Lester Dent actually penned the majority of Doc Savage stories.
The magazine published by Street & Smith Publications lasted from March, 1933 to July, 1949. Doc Savage reached a new audience in the 1960s when Bantam reprinted the entire series in paperback form. Doc Savage would also appear in comics and in his own feature film directed by George Pal in 1975.
To the world at large, Doc Savage is a strange, mysterious figure of glistening bronze skin and golden eyes. To his amazing co-adventures--the five greatest brains ever assembled in one group--he is a man of superhuman strength and protean genius, whose life is dedicated to the destruction of evil-doers. To his fans he is the greatest adventure hero of all time, whose fantastic exploits are unequaled for hair-raising thrills, breathtaking escapes and blood-curdling excitement.
